"Kessy and Dutch's new Mounting Platform"

Howdy Folks,

Since this pesky leg thing of mine isn't really going to get much better I needed a better way for Kessy and me to start our adventures to the trails and woods. I mentioned it to our friends Chris and Phil and they jumped into action! Great friends just jump right in, and they did! First the foundation needed to be prepared. Then they pushed the heavy platform in place, removed the one railing and made sure the platform was secure.

Then it was time to introduce Kessy to the new deal. She's really good about taking care of me and figuring things out. As you stroll through these pictures I'll bet you'll find it hard to believe it took months of working together for Kessy to be comfortable standing still to mount. First we just got used to walking to it and then standing comfortably while I was that high beside her.

Next came the real deal. Saddle up and ride … Kessy say's "I got this for you Partner."

After the ride came a new way of dismounting, too. This had really become a problem for me, but I think we've got it now.

Welcome to the Clutch

Welcome to Coffee Clutch With Dutch Henry … Thanks for dropping by on the official launch day! We'll have lots of fun visits and chat about everything from horses, writing, coffee, birds to butterflies, and whatever other happy thoughts pop into my mind while I'm enjoying morning coffee with my mare Kessy.

With this blog it is my hope to accomplish two very important things. Create a place where friends can gather to share a few fun moments, and also this is another way we can help, "People & Horses Helping Horses & People." Each Friday post will be "Feature Friday" and will include the link of and a few words about a person, organization, horse charity or horse who is devoted to helping others. You might want to share the link, and help them help.

Welcome to the Coffee Clutch, a happy place to visit. I write uplifting stories about a wide variety of subjects from horses to birds and nature, to love and family and friends. Sometimes I'll post excerpts from stories I've written for Equine Publications. Sometimes I'll post about writing itself. Coffee Clutch got its name because I often write while enjoying my morning coffee in the barn with my mare Kessy, and all our critters. It's For The Horses

This is not a book about riding, or training horses. It is a book on my thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how folks might find the joy in doing things for the horse, with the horses’ point of view as the leading guide. My hope is to help as many people as possible learn to hear the horse, feel their spirit, and in that way help horses everywhere.
